Unblogged Bits (Thu. 24-Feb-11 1030)

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Anti-Abortion New York Billboard: “The Most Dangerous Place For An African American Is In The Womb” – It’s an asinine billboard to put up … but free speech protects the asinine, too.
  2. An Update is Available For Your Computer – HA!
  3. What’s new and exciting in WordPress 3.1 – There’s a lot of cool-sounding stuff that I’m not sure I’m going to use. And, of course, I’ll be waiting until 3.1.1 (at least) before starting the migration of my blog herd.
  4. Snow Attack – HA!
  5. Creationists suffer defeat in Oklahoma – Good, though it’s bad that the vote was so close. My belief that the moon is made of green cheese doesn’t justify me using that as an answer in an astronomy test, either.
  6. Rick Santorum: American Left Has Ruined Memory Of The Crusades; “Hates Christendom” – Rick Santorum is an dolt. And a dolt with piss-poor knowledge of history, too.
  7. 21,000 had whooping cough last year, CDC says – Thank you, anti-vaccinators, for all these nice new cases of disease and death, driven solely by your unscientific fear-mongering.
  8. Bernie Sanders: End Game for Wealthiest in America is the Destruction of Social Safety Nets and of the Middle Class – Sanders is optimistic. The folks involved here don’t want the clock rolled back to the 20s, they’d prefer 1900, pre-Teddy Roosevelt, pre-any sort of Progressive legislation. Anything that interferes with or restrains their ability to make money in whatever fashion they choose is, per se, evil in their eyes and must be abolished.
