Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Letters to my Kids: What I Think About Space, Science, and Traveling Faster than the Speed of Light – Cool …
- Ann Coulter: Radiation Is Good For You – Yes, I’m sure that if we have all those cancer patients in the country stand on the West Coast and inhale deeply as any sort of radiation cloud passes overhead, then all will be well. Yeesh.
- Concerns grow that Dems. are letting GOP take ‘human element’ out of budget debate – Which is insane, as tactics, because it is the human face — the face of decency, of kindness, of compassion, of being a community of neighbors and not a collection of taxpayers — that makes government something more than raising armies and building highways. It’s what justifies taxation in the first place — not some sort of purchasing services just for myself, but putting into practice the dictum of loving one’s neighbor as oneself.
- NY Review of Books: Prison rape is constant and mainly done by the guards: Gaius Publius
- America: You Keeping Using That Word… – An exhausting, but worthwhile, read.
- Six Ways Fukushima is Not Chernobyl
- King Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz Royal Decrees on the 18th of March 2011 | Qusay – Trying to spend your way to domestic tranquility, it seems — with an anti-corruption commission and a “protect the religious scholars” bit thrown in just for fun.
- When there are too many (thoughts on Fukushima and environmental catastrophe): dof
- First Look: Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman – For all its faults, I cannot with a straight face say that it’s a “worse” costume than Lynda Carter’s.
- First Wonder Woman costume photo will make your eyes bleed – It’s not THAT bad, folks. The vinyl sheen on the costume is off-putting (even if it’s just to avoid it looking like spandex instead). But I don’t mind the costume that much, at least for starters, at least not the concept of “pants” vs “bathing suit bottoms” for an Amazon princess. On the other hand — spike heels? Really? Really? I guess the main question is, can she really move / fight / acrobat in it?
- GOP Anti-Abortion Bill Will Force IRS Agents To Audit Abortions Of Sexual Assault Victims – And here I always thought the GOP and the TeaPartiers were dead-set against the IRS and the Revenooers. Except, I guess, when it’s to fight against abortion rights.
- Marriage is a sacred vow…between a philanderer and his three wives – HA!
- With Fight Over DOMA Looming, A Majority Of Americans Now Support Gay Marriage – NOM and their ilk are fighting a losing battle, and they know it.
- Police: Pa. man, 70, stoned to death by friend – There are certainly a few folks who argue that this should be the law of the land. However, I thought the final paragraph probably provided a better clue as to what was behind this particular murder.
- E-mail Dies, as Email Rises Triumphant From Its Ashes [Language] – I think I dropped the hyphen myself a while back.
- Big Box Stores Pushing To Tax Amazon Sales In All 50 States – I’ll confess that I take full advantage of Amazon not including sales tax in the price. On the other hand, I take full advantage of Best Buy letting me walk out of the store in 5 minutes with what I want Right Now. shrug
- Insurers Dodge Payouts By Claiming Accidental Deaths As Suicides – Stay classy, life insurers!
- Would You Berate Someone For Eating On Public Transit? – Food/Drink is not allowed on Denver Light Rail, but there are usually people (esp. in the morning) who bring a cup of coffee or soda on. As long as they’re careful and clean up after themselves, I’ve got no problem with it. The problem comes with spills, trash left behind, and, of course, people eating in each others’ faces.

9 & 10 – And then there’s Cathy Lee Crosby’s Wonder Woman outfit, please.
Even better full shot here. (Shudders.)
