- Confessions of an unlikely Anglican – Religious ritual, to me, fulfills multiple purposes. It makes worship a common, communal effort. And it invokes a triggered mindset toward worship, something almost meditative. Yes, it can be made into empty gestures and meaninglessly repetitive words — but it can also be a steppingstone to something more meaningful. (But, then, as a Catholic-turned-Episcopalian, you’d expect me to think that.)

- Army begins training chaplains on new ‘don’t ask’ policy – CNN Belief Blog – CNN.com Blogs – Military chaplains have had to deal with ministering to troops not of their denomination, or even of their faith. It is that ministry, not some doctrinal orthodoxy, that is what brings chaplains into the service, and adding the policy change on gay in the military is just one more aspect to that which I expect most chaplains will adapt to.

1. So my birth certificate is not official? Does that mean it cannot be used as proof of citizenship? Hmm… It seems to me that I used it for my first I-9 form back during the Reagan administration, but I can’t swear to it.
