Unblogged Bits (Fri. 6-May-11 2330)

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Our inner fishes – Were we some perfect, instant, one-off, out-of-nothingness creation, you’d expect a lot less developmental resemblance to other living critters from whom we’ve actually diverged along the evolutionary trail. The very imperfections of humanity argue for evolution, not some whole-cloth creationism.
  2. When Copyright And Contracts Can Get In The Way Of Art – This artwork of Vishnu avatars is very cool. I’m glad for the opportunity to have seen it.
  3. Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day, so plan accordingly – Definitely some cool free comics out there. Visit your local comic book store.
  4. YouTube > 8 Month Old Deaf Baby’s Reaction To Cochlear Implant Being Activated – Very cool …
  5. Colorado House quickly approves bill to repeal 2010 law on online sales tax – The Denver Post – I wonder, if passed, if Amazon will reinstate the affiliate program in Colorado.
  6. Feds drop Bush era endangered species policy – The Denver Post – The idea that you can treat a contiguous biological range differently on one side of a state border from the other side is … dumb. But, I’m sure, profitable enough for for some for it to be a GOP talking point.
  7. Panel votes to keep Colorado adultery law on the books – The Denver Post – I love the arguments that effectively say, “Well, no, it shouldn’t be illegal and we shouldn’t enforce it, but we don’t want to be seen as condoning it, so let’s keep unenforceable and unenforced laws on the books just to make a socio-politico-religious statement.” Um … because that’s what sermons are for, folks, not laws.
