  1. Part of it is probably legacy hate of the IE6 days when MS was perfectly happy to have a crap browser because, with Netscape flattened, it didn’t need to worry.

    Even today, though, with IE technically much better than it was (and the comparison between it and Chrome/Firefox is much closer than it used to be), it remains much more of a “corporate” browser, far less customizable and extensible than Chrome or Firefox.

    I work with IE and Chrome every day. I find the latter to be a more enjoyable experience.

    That said, the competition resembles, in some ways, sports team rivalries. It helps if That Other Team is doing really poorly this season, but even if it’s doing perfectly well it’s still the enemy and must be destroyed.
