The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) is not beyond reproach, but it's the closest thing we have to a neutral party for cutting through the political, partisan posturing as to what the financial impacts of various proposed laws would actually be.
So, of course, why wouldn't we outsource that to a private firm? I mean, I'm sure the Koch Bros., or Goldman-Sachs, or ExxonMobile would be more than happy to take on that role, right? No doubt they could give far more accurate and disinterested analyses of legislation and fiscal impact than, oh, all those government parasite types. #ddtb
