When you're at war, you can do anything

No weapon is out of bounds. No action too extreme or unjustified. Civilians are collateral damage at best, co-belligerents at worst. Civil liberties, justice, not to mention human decency, are a nice convenience, a reason Why We Fight, but not something we can allow to distract us. Nothing will do but total victory.

It's as true for al-Qaeda terrorists as it is for the folks (in the last administration and this) who have decided that the US is at War with Terror, and anything we do — overseas or at home — is therefore appropriate and even necessary. #ddtb
