That's actually been put forward (so to speak) more than once. I think one of Power Girl's writers used it as an rationale for the "boob window".
Ok, it worked on a third go round. Reminded me of an old (tongue in cheek style) RPG where the less armor a gal had on, the higher her armor class was due to the 'distraction factor'.
I’ve been wanting someone to take that trope to town and refute. Great analysis.
I’ve seen too many women at the spring RennFaires in So. Calif. wearing unlined chain or plate mail attire, and darned little of it, and wonder how they can stand wearing it, as well as stand the sunburn and friction “burn” they’ll have at the end of the day. Then there were the women in almost-bikinis AND high platform shoes. Add twisted ankles to the end of their day.
@Marina – I bow to no man in appreciation for cheesecake and the female form. But practicality needs to also be a factor in all of this.
It may, or may or may not be germane that my various female characters in City of Heroes all tend toward being fully dressed.
