Did the GOP suddenly lose a big gamble in its bet-the-farm political poker match?
I dunno. They've done plenty of zany things before, and have gotten away with it. But, on the other hand, the Dems (finally, praise the Maker) didn't cave on this one — in fact, they went big with pointing out what the GOP was doing: letting unemployment insurance lapse and allowing payroll taxes to go up, at Christmas, all because they were playing politics. And that the House and Senate GOP split ranks on this was even more telling.
"If you wonder why Obama is slowly rising again, I'd look less to his own smart re-framing of the issues than to the utter fecklessness of the opposition party. The circus of the primaries and the farce of the House will not leave the public consciousness very soon."
One can but hope. #ddtb

Is This The Moment The GOP Implodes?
These things happen quite quickly in the public's mind. An event crystallizes an inchoate general feeling, and gives it clarity. I think of the moment Gingrich threw a hissy-fit about his seat on Airf…
I hope so. How long can Republicans believe their own lies?
