Oh come on…if the taxpayers can foot a $4 million vacation for the Obamas and multiple cross country trips for Pelosi, they can certainly spring for a couple of stamps, right?
Alright…and that makes a difference…how? Regardless of how you break it down, it's still astronomical. Whatever sort of 'spin' anyone wants to put on it, can't argue that fact.
It's a huge amount, yes. The way it is usually framed, though, makes it sound like it's a vacation where the family is sitting around eating diamond-encrusted hummingbird tongues out of disposable platinum bowls. Which is clearly not true — it's largely logistical costs, and a per-hour rate for operating Air Force One. If the president and his family are going to take a vacation during the holidays, most of the cost items are unavoidable.
So the alternatives would seem to be:
– the Obama family should not take vacations.
– the Obama family should take vacations closer to DC (reducing that flight time cost)
– Obama should not fly on Air Force One
I guess I'm still shaking my head at the idea that they looked at the price tag (regardless of the hows and whys) and still said "Sure, let's go." Seriously?
Agree with you +Mark Means . The President is clearly unaffected by the suffering of millions people in this country. He is now part of the 1% so why should he care?
