Even more than the Cold War, the never-ending War on Terror seems to have turned our government into a house of secrets, where everything is classified, everything has to be kept under wraps because of "national security," and any accountability for same is … also a tightly-held secret.
It's hard to have a functioning democracy when massive parts of what your elected representatives do is not available for your review. And that's an issue that crosses all party lines. #ddtb
