TABOR is a pretty awful law here in Colorado, for a variety of reasons. It's also a good example of the dangers of the initiative processes, which tends to write … well, bad laws (ones that don't pass constitutional review, ones that have bad unintentional consequences, etc.).
That said, I find the initiative process — part of the Progressive movement (along with direct election of Senators) — to be of value. I wouldn't see a somewhat higher bar to getting something on the ballot here in the state, but I would hate to see it go away altogether. It's a useful check on state legislatures that may — for political or pecuniary reasons — be unwilling to do "the will of the people." #ddtb
