I'm sure there's some brilliant reason why Amazon would open a bricks-and-mortar store, and I'm sure there are brilliant people working for them which could explain it … but damned if I can figure it out.
I mean, okay, I can see wanting to be able to live-demo a Kindle Fire … but opening a whole store for that? Seems silly. #ddtb

As per the latest rumors, e-commerce giant Amazon is planning to open its own physical store in the next few months. Amazon might open a boutique rather than a huge retail store to test the waters bef…

First, of course, because Bezos is insane. I don’t mean that in a derogative sense, but he comes across as impulsive because he’s willing to go out and try new things that have no immediate relation to other things being done. (It landed me a job for a while, actually.) Second, I’m wondering if there are interesting tax implications here.
An interesting thought. Given that Amazon has quietly given on on the sales tax thing for the future, there’s no sales tax disadvantage to actually opening up a presence in some places. Hmmm.
