Dear Mitt: Believe it or not, the Constitution says nothing about the courts being instituted to protect "traditions" or popular "values." The courts are there to rule on the law and, in cases like this, to determine whether a law is in keeping the Constitution itself.
If you disagree with the Ninth Circuit's reasoning, then fine, let's have that discussion. But spitting out frothy sound bites appealing to "preserving our values" and "protecting traditional marriage" demonstrates your interest is political, not jurisprudential, and that you're more interested in securing your voting base than in the cause of justice. And yet, somehow, you think that qualifies you to be president. #ddtb
