Actually, you could do a really interesting class lesson with kids by making them puzzle out then think through some of these implications. Just learning about unintended consequences would be hugely valuable for most people. #ddtb

6 Horrifying Implications of the Harry Potter Universe
By Micah Kolding,Michael Greenbrier Published: March 14th, 2012
We have a feeling that Harry Potter is never going away, in the sense that franchises like Batman and Star Wars never went away (and Star Wars never got its own amusement park). And why not? It's the perfect storm of wonder, charm and innocent, famil
Harry Potter is awesome (:
I am very fond of the Harry Potter…..books. They only movie I liked was the first one. To be fair, I didn’t watch any after Goblet of Fire because I really hated it. Disappointing, because those young actors are exactly who I would have chosen to play Harry, Ron and Hermione.
@Ellie – The HP movies were not without flaws, esp. in trying to cram ever-more-detailed books into a 2.5h movie (thank the stars they split up the last one), but overall I give them an A for effort and B for execution, and am just glad I wasn’t tasked with the job. There’s some very good work there, in acting and effects, but overall in visualization of the events of the books.
***Dave, I feel that I should point out I was also very disappointed in the LOTR movies. Sometimes, my imagination far surpasses anything they can put on the screen. Most of the time, I should probably stick to books. If anyone ever makes a movie about Pern, I will shut my eyes until it goes away.
@Ellie, I understand the sentiment. My daughter didn’t want to go see the movie Hugo because she had such a visual image in her head and didn’t want the movie to injure it.
While there were things about the LotR movies that I didn’t care for, there was a lot that I thought was spectacular, visually. And while there were some editing choices made by Peter Jackson that I didn’t agree with, I have watched the movies several times and still enjoy them deeply. Except for the lack of a rural infrastructure around Minas Tirith, but let’s not get into that right now. 😉
