Camera geeks are not unique in the tech world in their, um, enthusiasm / jingoism for various brands and releases and universalizing of their own experiences and trying to sound more knowledgeable and self-important than thou. Indeed, one small step away from hammers I'll bet you can find power tool geeks who are just as hair-splitting.
