Two things happen with User Interfaces:
1. People decide UIs don't matter, that testing them just takes time and money, and if it was good enough for our grandparents on green-screen mainframe terminals, it's good enough for our new users.
2. People decide that what matters most with UIs is whether they are pretty enough. If they are pretty and slick and futuristic and pretty, then of course they will do the job better.
The results of either attitude can be, as noted here, tragic. (Though some of the items aren't computer interfaces, and the last one is more of a matter or clarity of information presentation and summarization, the point is still true.) #ddtb
