For all of those who've been waiting with bated (or at least wheezing) breath …
My previous antibiotic ran out early last week, but it was one of those "it will keep working for five days, so call us then" types of meds. Well, I was getting toward the end of that period, and still feeling dragged out (and still rattling in the chest a bit), so I took my mom's advice and called them a little in advance of the deadline.
Long story short, I'm now on a five day course of steroids to clear up the bronchial passages. I still have a bit of a rattle (as of lying in bed this morning), but my cough is much, much better, and I actually felt rested and even somewhat energetic this morning (work is doing its best to address that). So, feeling better about feeling better, huzzah. #ddtb
Thanks for the progress report. Glad to read that your recovery is ongoing.
Me, too! 🙂
Now all I have to do is figure out what happened to the last two or three weeks …
Hope the steroids do the trick! Oh, and good for you for listening to your Mother.
@Ellie – Yeah, I expect never to hear the end of it. 🙂

@Avo – Eat my brains once, shame on you. Eat my brains twice …
Glad to hear that, Dave.I had (almost) the same thing a few months ago, but was diagnosed with 'bronchitis'. They gave me anitbiotics, steroids, and an inhaler. It cleared up after another few weeks but it was a slow go. I had the wheezing, the hard cough, etc.
The funniest part was, I spoke to a friend who lives in Vegas…she had the same thing….my mom, in Kentucky, also had the same thing. Sounds like something was definitely going around.
If you find yourself developing an appetite for brains, +Mark Means, do give me advance warning …
I thought mine was largely due to allergies, as I had only sinus congestion and those strange sounding, much harder than my usual ridiculously hard coughs, coughs. No fever, but as I will be seeing the Dr. tomorrow for something completely different, I’ll ask about the possibilities of either W.P. or whooping cough, given the lack of herd immunity in this area, due to all all the anti-vaccine crowd.
Edna was taking ABs for something else, and she had maybe a sixth of what the rest of us had, which leads me to believe it might have been bacterial.
I’m glad to hear you are getting properly cared for, listening to your mother, and recovering at a reasonable pace.
Me, too, Marina.
