It seems like it should go without saying, but apparently not. The best way to reduce abortions is to educate people about using birth control methods and making sure those methods are available. That's far more effective than, say, claiming that birth control doesn't work, making it more difficult to access, or trying to outlaw abortion.

Alas, the real issue is punishing women for having their own lives–or so it feels on this end.
Birth control does work, as your and mine know it, but that’s Evil in far-right eyes. As one of the commenters on that article said (echoing my usual own words): This is about women not having sex without consequences; this is about controlling women, and ensuring they are ruled by biology and nothing else.
@Marina – And by “biology” you mean “by their menfolk who have a right to demand sex and offspring whenever they want.”
