I've always had a manual transmission. But for how much longer?
It's not that I mind automatic — some of them are darned snappy (the one on our Subaru Outback, with the quasi-manual flippers is positively fun to drive) — but I do love tight manual transmissions on a winding little road …
If I were stuck in freeway traffic regularly, I realize I might have a different opinion.

One of the main reasons I switched from a manual… Well, let's just say getting a stick into reverse when it's -40 out requires some "persuasion".
Electric cars hardly need a transmission.

My hybrid is a manual, but I don't think they make them anymore. (2000 Honda Insight)
