If you are trying to tell someone how to get to Google+ profile (and posts), it's not easy. Well, it's relatively easy if they're already a Google user, in some contexts, but, in general, not. And for celebrities or businessfolk looking to make a Google+ presence, that's a big consideration.
Terrence's solution is simply to have a domain name redirect to your Google+ profile. Another, less elaborate solution is to use gplus.to, which lets you register a name and does the redirect for you — thus, http://gplus.to/davehill goes to my profile. I could put that on a personal business card, were I so inclined.
(The below post is old, but the G+ situation and solutions remain.)

Taking Matters Into My Own Hands
Got tired of waiting for Google+ to get vanity URLs or at the very least something simpler to remember. It was just too hard for me to tell people how to find me. On Facebook, I can tell people to go to http://www.facebook.com/terrencel . Really easy for them to remember. More importantly, really easy for me to remember.
There is no way I'm remembering that 21 digit number Google uses nor am I going to give that out to people. So if you want to remember how to get to me now, it is really easy. Just go to terrencelui.com It will redirect to here.
Who else thinks Google needs to do something about the URLs around here?

I use http://nicksh.com/plus
Ah. That kind of thing would work, too.
And, actually, any sort of redirection service would work instead of gplus.to — that one just is intelligibly linked to Google Plus.
