I always thought of the "liberal media bias" as a marketing ploy that started with conservative newspapers and moved to Fox news. The implication has always seemed to be the following: "We are not biased conservative, you just can't trust anyone else because they are all liberal."
I'm pretty sure the "liberal media bias" thing came about by, well, people watching the evening news and drawing their own conclusions.
A prime example being the ABC/Brian Ross bit of "journalism".
No, I agree +Matthew Bannock , not all outlets are skewed left, in my view. There are a few skewed to the right, as well.

Sorry for the confusing thread I deleted my comment which talked about the flip side. I was going to post other examples and became sidetracked. Google media inaccuracies for fun reading some time. . . . just wow. . .
"Liberal media Bias" is just another of those zombie lies that refuses to die. The "Media" hasn't been "Liberal" since I was in 3 corner pants.
