My annual golf outing

I just don't get on the course as often as I'd like (for a variety of reasons, not least of which is trying to find others to play with, cough), but I do try to make it to our parish golf tournament each year.  It's always a scramble / best ball style outing, which minimizes the frustration level and gives everyone an opportunity to shine.

I did okay.  My early few holes suffered from (a) my having about 15 minutes at the driving range before having to dash to the 1st tee, and (b) not keeping my head down, leading to (c) lots of dead gophers as I sent the ball bouncing along the ground at high speed.

By about the 5th hole I was finally relaxing and (usually, least half the time) not swinging too fast — and, as a result, had some killer drives (with my driver, no less).  I also contributed a few decent approach shots.  My longer putts were uniformly awful (always short), though I did some decent short putting.

We were playing once again at the Links, an executive 18 (par 62) just south of C470 west of Quebec.  It's a nice course — decent challenges, well-maintained.

All in all, a pleasant outing which makes me want to do more.  And, in fact, my company is doing a scramble tournament in a few weeks, so I'm going to sign up for that.  Wow, golfing twice in a season … inconceivable!
