So both Kay and I were down with some sort of bug last week, roughly Tuesday – Thursday. It was a benign illness, as such things go — general malaise, a bit of congestion, no loss of appetite, but lots of sleeping.
As noted, both of us were back up to speed by Friday (with Margie crowing how her flu shot had kept her from coming down with it in the first case — whether or not true, I'm greatly pleased it was the case). But Sunday, Kay was coming down with some sort of new illness — headaches, sore throat, nausea. She was up and down pretty much all day, napping for big chunks of it.
This morning, she was complaining of neck pains, which, with the other symptoms, brought to mind, oh, I don't know, meningitis …
So I stayed home with her, and Margie got us an appointment at the local KP clinic at 11 for an exam.
Which led to the doctor noting that, though most of her symptoms were fairly mild (Kay attributed the sore neck to being restless most of the night because she'd napped so much the day before) she had a definite wheeze in her breathing.
Which led (after some inhaler/hookah fun and some chest X-rays) to a diagnosis of Walking Pneumonia.
So she was home today, and likely will be tomorrow, with meds for the infection and meds for the lung stuff, and some great inhaler bits that need to be administered every 4 hours for the next two nights (including, as point of reference, around 2-3 a.m.).
Yeah, it's one of those weeks. Though she's in good spirits, and working on homework, and all that.
(Coincidentally to the inspirational video, Kay was just studying the Black Plague in Social Studies …)

Feel better soon, Kitten!
What The Bruce said.
That convulsion of fear in the moment when the worst-case scenario enters your mind… and the strange relief when you find out it’s “only” pneumonia.
I’ll confess I was more than happy to live in denial, but the possibility (confirmed sympotmatically upon a bit more research) entered Margie’s mind, so I was more than happy to also let her worry by proxy and focus on “resolving” the problem.
Wow, Kay sure has been sick a lot this year, poor Kitten. 🙁
Yeah, @bd, seems that way. 🙁
But she’s doing much better this afternoon, and definitely plans on going to school tomorrow.
