  1. I freaking loved that show as a kid — cheesiness and all.  Indeed, the whole idea that there could be an ongoing backstory element that evolved over time (the Mystery of Racer X!) was mindblowing compared to most cartoons of the era.

    Plus, y'know, the Mach 5 was awesome.

  2. Terrific article, incidentally. It reminds me of some of the things I liked about the film — and some stuff I have forgotten.

    But I am going to rent it now because JOHN GOODMAN.
