Part 47 in a Series, as we have Reagan, in 1994, helping lobby (and successfully so) for passage of the Assault Weapons Ban.
Now, I don't consider Reagan's imprimatur on anything particularly swaying, but the official Republican hagiography still has him as the Biggest Influence of Forever, and All-Time American Patriot Hero, and claiming you're acting in the spirit of Ronald Reagan or being called the second coming of Ronald Reagan still carries a huge amount of weight in GOP circles.
Once again, Reagan shows how Reagan could never be elected as a Republican today.

The Assault Weapon Ban Would Have Never Passed If It Wasn’t For Ronald Reagan
Two members said Reagan changed their votes. The bill passed by two.

I was just starting out “On My Own” and this man’s policies and attitudes towards
the American worker derailed my independence and that of many of my classmates (High school class of 1980)
I hated him! to the point of openly routing for the Soviets, even while “serving a sentence aboard an slave galley”
in the U.S.C.G.
To this day; I can’t stand the site of him, his face always reminded me of the smell of saliva.
During the 1960’s, he was close to being enemy #1 among the young adults in the area of Los Angeles
where I lived, so I developed an bias early on, I admit that.
However my bias legitimate or not, had nothing to do with his decision to lie and beguile his way into office,
and almost single handedly bring the world very, very close to nuclear war.
He IS responsible for homelessness here and in the former Soviet Union, his “I double dog dare you” game
with the U.S.S.R. bankrupted that system, and they are still feeling the effects, as so are we.
And here’s something else;
I’ve never swallowed that he was actually struck by gun fire in the “assassination attempt”
His injuries were the broken ribs caused by his detail when he was flung into the limo.
ps
yeah, I’m complaining about the past…
I’m not ready to forget or forgive,
Because every time I turn on late night television,
and there is infomercials hour upon hour…
I remember that and the other crap he brought to potluck!
