While I don't think people should be endangered for the sake of someone sending off one last email, the FAA's attitude toward electronic devices ("Guilty until proven innocent, though we're going to let pilots use iPads and airlines offer WiFi") is insulting, as is muttering about folks paying attention during the safety briefing or the idea that my Kindle is a deadlier projectile than a big hardcover. Unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where the FAA's intransigence smacks more of unwillingness to admit they were wrong than anything approaching actual science.
