And here's hoping that, fifty years from now, people will look back at knee-jerk religion-based resistance to the Theory of Evolution and laugh at the silliness.

Happy Darwin Day!
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. Today is Charles Darwin's 204th birthday! In the US, there are efforts to make this a nationally recognized event, which I think is a fine idea. We don't have to put him on a coin or anything, but it sure would be nice if—after 150 years of building up an overwhelming avalanche of supporting evidence—we could even get members of Congress's Science Committee to agree that evolution is real.

And it’s important to remind some people (not you, of course!) that the vast majority of Christians outside of the former US Confederacy don’t have a problem with Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.
A good point, @Tim, thanks.
Evolution seems to be a problem primarily for folks who:
(a) Take a literal stance on the Bible (generally Young Earth Creationists); or
(b) Thinks it denies the role of God in the development of humanity (which it doesn’t, any more than saying God had no role in getting you to work safely this morning — neither is scientifically provable, both are simply a matter of faith).
