Two odd sets of reactions here: (1) No particular hesitation about it. (2) Hesitation, nervous laughter, maybe a question … and then compliance.
Hmmm. Seems like it's time to have a talk with the daughter.

Come on gals….get smarter than this.
This makes me very glad I don't go out alone.
And he has the amazing technique. "Hey. Give me your phone number. Because." Heck, even I could have done that when I was single.
At least I don't have to talk to my daughter. She is the one who gets on me for my Foursquare check-ins.
I couldn't even finish watching that…
I'm just hoping it was edited to show only the women blithely (or reluctantly) giving him their phone numbers and names.
I hear dating with a chaperone is making a comeback. For good reason.
I wish I didn’t believe this really happens. I couldn’t watch the whole thing; it was too depressing.
A chaperon? Yes, only today we call them "bodyguard".
So I quizzed my daughter about this. She gave all the correct answers, and seemed just as aghast as the responses above as I was. I feel marginally better.
In the days before cellphones, I was asked by a stranger I’d talked with at a small airport for my phone and address. He flew out my way now and then, and might give me a call when he was in town.
I gave him a mix of true and erroneous info.
If I’d been a young woman asked to give a phone number to a stranger, I would say no. If pressed, I’d continue saying no, and if it got worse, would shout for police or help from bystanders, if I didn’t simply leave, running if necessary.
