Breaking The Impermeable School Bubble

Does forbidding retail liquor licenses within 500 feet of schools actually keep children safer?  I suppose if a liquor establishment has the surroundings littered with winos, that might be a bit offputting for the younglings, but I'm unconvinced that a restaurant serving margaritas on the weekend or at night is incompatible with a private school operated down the block during the day.

Amazingly, it appears the Denver City Council feels the same way.
