Chat, Talk, Babble

Man, I'll be happy if there's a way to just have a single chat window open, rather than a message coming in triggering subwindows in Gmail and G+ (as well as the old native Talk client, which I still prefer, since all it does is let me … talk, and it doesn't require a separate instance of the browser to run in).

Overall, I think this is a good idea. I do think the reworking and barriers around it make Google an incrementally more insular place to work in, which is not what I want to see, but it's certainly true that the general direction of an integrated, cross-product chat client/tech for Google is overdue.

  1. I used to use Meebo that was run in a browser and you could connect any other chat client to it. Google bought it recently and stopped offering the chat client…I was hoping they would bring it back as something else. Looks like they may.
