Stupid things Les sometimes does

I actually do some of these.  Or analagous ones.

And, for the record, I thought they were called "gyros"-with-a-J-sound for many years (largely because there weren't a lot of Greek sandwich places in suburban SoCal where I grew up).  And that was encouraged by, of all things, a comic book. I offer you Marvel Two-in-One #51, this page (http://www.supermegamonkey.net/chronocomic/entries/scans3/MTIO51_SkyDragon.JPG), the next panel in which has the Beast leaping off as well, jovially shouting out, "Gyros? No thanks, I just ate …" — which did nothing to correct my misunderstanding of how the word was pronounced.

(That's a damn fine comic book, btw.)

Anyway, thanks for the chuckle and self-reflection, Les.

  1. Diane has to put up with similar things. At the grocery store when the checker asks; "Would you like the milk in a bag" I often say "Nah, leave it in the bottle. It would leak out of the bag."

  2. Analogous to that, +George Wiman, when someone asks, "Would you like a bag for that [single thing I just bought, like a shirt, or a bottle of detergent, or a computer mouse]?" I'll inevitably answer, "No thanks, I'll eat it here."
