SCOTUS privileges state citizenship over national citizenship

I strongly suspect, given that this was a unanimous opinion, that there is more to it than the circumstances that Ars Technica notes (including the plaintiffs in the case) which demonstrate how awful a ruling this is.  But it is certainly in keeping with one thread of judicial and social thought that considers individuals as citizens of individual states, vs. citizens of a society and a nation.
