Me! When you share a birth year with something iconic, the JFK assassination or the “I have a Dream” speech for example, your milestones are duly remembers by everyone. I was always fascinated that I I shared by birth-DAY with the hundredth anniversary of Gettysburg, which means it’s having its 150th this year.
My favorite other thing on that list is Zip Codes. I do remember letters that arrived without them from my childhood. And now we can’t even conceive of addresses that don’t contain them.
You were certainly one of the 50-year anniversary events I was thinking of, Mary. 🙂
Ah, the Zone Improvement Plan. Now consider for a moment an effort to do something similar today, and all the brouhaha it would cause.
