Actually, complementary beverages are becoming a thing of the past for most passengers in Steerage Class. But the free X-ray seems to be gone, too, as the TSA has done away with the "stand between two sinister boxes" pornoscanners that used X-rays. The "step into the disintegration chamber" pornoscanners, which use microwaves are still in place.
Most of the health concerns raised about the program were with the x-ray scanners, so that's all good (though the TSA never conceded the basis for any concerns). The porno portion of the pornoscanners has been (we hear) largely done away with, the displays simply highlighting areas that agents should pat down, and (we are assured) the actual millimeter wave prints of our unreveaed bodies not (we are promised) saved anywhere (honest).
