Any time there's an increase in government surveillance — increased searches (physical or electronic), new databases, all that usual jazz — you get certain folks saying, "Well, who cares? It's all to protect me from the Bad Guys, and, y'know, I've got nothing to hide."
There are a lot of reasons why that's not a terribly smart response. Here are three very good ones.
