We’re going to Africa later this summer for a photo-safari in the Victoria Falls area. Very much looking forward to it, but we’re starting to get into the area of logistics and outfitting.The problem is, I think “Africa savannah” and imagine something very hot and sweltering. Whereas we’re going to be there in the (local) dead of winter, with the average highs of mid-70s and the lows at night dipping into the low 40s.
So on the one hand, I keep thinking of “safari gear”, and on the other hand, Margie (the practical one) keeps thinking “Jackets in the morning and evenings when we’re actually going out to look at the animals.” The fact that I tend to be warmer than Margie doesn’t help me make the connection in what I expect. I mean, for me, 75 out in the sun is getting uncomfortably warm.
I’m going to have a photo/safari vest (lurves me some pockets!), so that helps in some ways, but not in others.
Will ponder this further.

You'd probably be fine in light long sleeves, with maybe a light jacket as backup.
A safari sounds amazing! Definitely jealous.
