Pixar’s 22 Rules Of Storytelling, Visualized
Pixar's Rules of Storytelling
Looking at these, I wouldn't call these a method (except maybe #4) for telling a story — but there's some very good advice for refining a story, punching through a block in a story, reviewing a story, etc.

Oh how I wish there was a method. Something to hold one by the hand and guide through the process. A formula that you plug your unique material into and still have it be 100% fresh.
Until the day that the writing Einstein comes to save us from our plight, I reckon we're relegated to the old struggle.
Actually, that #4 is the 5 act structure, which I just recently learned about and love. I can't wait to try it out in fiction.
I've seen a variety of structures out there, and am making an attempt to apply some of them to my writing (we'll see how that works this coming November …).
For the most part, this list is something to go through before you actually start writing, to go through when you find yourself stuck, and to go through when you're done with your first draft. The rest is up to you. 🙂
I do like that #4 prescription, though. I'm certainly going to use it. It's great for getting basic structure of a new idea down.
#12 is the one I find most insightful, and it's also the one I find most indie authors don't use. Get out of the vanilla tropes and solutions. Push yourself to go somewhere new.
