'Two Utah men have been removed as Boy Scout leaders for toppling a boulder from a Jurassic-era rock formation during a field trip to a state park — while singing and videotaping it. The Utah National Parks Council said Glenn Taylor and Dave Hall had violated the organization's policy of "Leave No Trace" for activities in natural areas.'
The men still maintain — video capering about to the contrary — that they were merely trying to make the park safer by knocking down a rock that they said was loose.

There's really no point in maintaining a lie if there's no possibility it will be believed.
Except at some point, it's harder to admit to the lie than to fruitlessly continue it.
Good news! Boy scouts aren't totally awful then.
I daresay the majority of Boy Scouts / Leadership I have known are decent, caring human beings.
+Dave Hill I am sure you are right and I shouldn't condemn the whole organization because of their official policies regarding homosexuality. But I will not let my son join that organization.
Let's start our own youth group. We'll call it… the Junior Jedi!
Are you kidding, +Scott Randel ? The Jedi are wildly disfunctional. They're biologically determinist. They're rigidly hierarchical. They're certainly holier-than-thou. And they have a "thou shallt not love" diktat for all their members that makes the Catholic priesthood seem positively libertine. No thank you.
Umm… Star Fleet Junior Grade? The X-Kids? The Time Lads?
Fine. You suggest something.
Actually, I think the Boy Scouts is fine, if they can get past (as they have in other countries) being an explicitly Christian organization.
Failing that, Star Fleet Cadets is pretty darned innocuous.
