I have no problem whatsoever with eliminating Daylight Saving Time. And I'd accept consolidating into two time zones. Honestly, I'm much less sensitive to what daylight there is in the morning or the evening, as much as I am to flipping clocks back and forth twice a year or dealing with everyone thinking my Colorado lunch hour is the perfect time to schedule meetings that are convenient to both California and Texas.
America should have two time-zones
Allison Schrager proposes that America should end Daylight Savings and consolidate its timezones into just two — the Eastern zone goes back, Central/Mountain do nothing, and Pacific goes forward.

I would like to see DST abolished. I have never given thought to changing the time zones.
And thank you for not adding an "s" to "Saving." I bet you don't say "safety deposit box," either.
It's really hard for me to wake up when it's dark out. But I have to deal with that in winter anyway, so it's just a matter of turning on the light when my first alarm goes off. I've been looking into those sunrise alarm clocks, but they're all expensive and I can't find one with solid reviews.
Consolidating timezones is entirely doable. Alaska (which I believe is in four or five time zones) is all on a single time zone. So is China.
I think part of what can (or should) happen in response to consolidated time zones is some recognition that maybe business hours are different on the east end of a time zone than on the west. Maybe offices don't all let out at 5.
(Which, in turn, may mean that offices in the same city can learn to stagger their hours, too, reducing traffic problems.)
Would love to see both! I would think this would help with business traffic too. Make folks more productive with shorter trips potentially for domestic flights.
