Just saying that if this is a fashion trend that's trending out, I will shed no tears (but will be quite happy for the women who no longer have to go through a painful treatment on a regular basis just for the sake of said fashion trend).
The downfall of the Brazilian: Bikini waxes could be on the way out
A new study says more women are going natural, and the media is completely shocked about it
This is getting detailed quick, but I always understood the desire to shave to be as much about your partner as your self image. IE people will enjoy going downtown if the path is clear. Rush hour sucks…
As they said back in my day, different strokes for different folks.
It's always been an issue of practicality, for me. Most body hair is practical; some gets in the way.
I'm sure it is mostly about comfort and personal preference. Different folks have different kinds of hair that creates different levels of comfort depending on how much is there.
I've always had the impression the fashion was more driven by male expectations (or female anticipation of same) driven, in turn, by the porn industry.
I'm sure that contributes, but I have been told that it can be a comfort thing as well. I know I make some personal hair care choices based on comfort over 'fashion', as it were.
And in those cases, I have no objection. I wear the hair on my head short because it's more comfortable in warm weather, helps avoid hat hair, and is easier to take care of after my shower. I don't have a profound objection to people wearing elaborate coiffures if they choose to do so, but I reserve the right to think that they are looking or being silly by inconveniencing themselves so much for the sake of fashion.
