George Jetson Doesn't Eat Here Any More

The faboo space age "Theme Building" restaurant at LAX has closed.  It's had a checkered career, but the main issue seems to be that it wasn't good enough to be a "destination" restaurant (as if anyone would want to brave traffic to LAX to dine, including the hassle of parking), and people actually at the airport to fly somewhere don't want to leave their terminal to eat at the theme building restaurant because the security lines to get back in are such a freaking hassle.

The building's not going anywhere, and the "observation deck" is still open, but the there will be some head-scratching going on to figure out how to get a successful restaurant into that space.

  1. "Detention Block", a Star Wars themed restaurant where the patrons are people who have been delayed by TSA workers and have to catch a later flight. Just give the TSA people a handful of 10% off  coupons and tell them that every 10th detainee gets them a free drink. 😀
