Keurig Will Use DRM In New Coffee Maker To Lock Out Refill Market | Techdirt
The single coffee cup craze has been rolling now for several years in both the United States and Canada, with Keurig, Tassimo, and Nespresso all battling it out to lock down the market. In order to protect their dominant market share, Keurig makers…
I'm unwilling to take the plunge because the single serve cups seem wasteful. This solidifies my decision.
Now I have to root my coffee maker??
Have two machines bought at deep discounts, if you have the refill cups, it's awesome. Buying pods? Might as well go to starbucks. Will not be supporting this at all.
We only buy the pods on occasion. For our everyday coffee drinking, we bought one of those re-usable filters that you can fill with any kind of coffee you want.
My espresso machine came with twenty free pods to use, and I'm sure they thought I would carry on buying them. Such a shame there was only one variety of coffee in them, and that it was awful.
I do like ours, especially for things like hot cider. We have the refill cups, and we keep an eye out for deals on the pods.
I'm not sure I'd buy a new one with the DRM, though.
I was going to purchase one for my daughter for next Christmas. I’ve been shopping around. Guess she will be getting something else, because I certainly wouldn’t by it with the DRM, and I wasn’t planning on making the purchase for a few months.
I find the normal drip maker works just fine for me. And my wife enjoys her French press. So, yeah, we're good.
