As far as I can tell, it got drawn up (beautifully) by someone when Joss Whedon got a big Disney contract back about a year ago, and when he denied it was all for Avengers 2, someone came up with this idea.
Which, honestly
a. Is beautiful and I would watch the hell out of it (if Joss were involved).
b. Would horribly cramp the story (guns, sudden violence, not to mention sex, are a key part of the FF world).
c. Is about the only way more Firefly would ever happen at this point.
d. Is not going to happen.
l'm not altogether sure why River is now a little kid (which is even more terrifying), why Zoe is on a horse, or why Book is now a little Yoda-esque figure, but …
