Universal's idea to create a "shared universe" for its classic movie monsters has some great possibilities. It has some awful possibilities, too, of course, but I think a big question will be how they tie things together. Will we see cross-overs of monsters? Common humans (or human organizations) in various of the films? Will the monsters be the protagonists or the antagonists? So many ways it could be done, and I'd love to see it done well.
Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and More to Team Up in New “Avengers”-Style Films | Tor.com
Universal Studios’ classic monsters, like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and more, will become an Avengers-style series of films helmed by Alex Kurtzman
They were the characters of the first shared universe that I know of. There were lots of classic Universal movies where Dracula met Wolfman, etc. So probably going to be good stuff.
The Gill Man? C'mon….seriously? What….they couldn't get The Blob?
+Curt Thompson True — plenty of crossovers back in the era, though usually as B movies and often played for laughs. Hoping for somthing a bit more sophisticated.
+Mark Means That's the Second Phase. 🙂 (Actually, the Blob is, I think, Columbia/TriStar, not Universal).
The Creature just won't be the same wthout Whit Bissell.
Didn't most of them already appear together with Abbot and Costello?
Ha. Just saw the Whit Bissel. comment. We must be the only nerds in the world with running whit Bissel gags.
