As a family we are immensely enjoying "The Musketeers" on BBC America. They are pulling in all sorts of stuff about the characters, either made up or from the novels, which doesn't make it into the standard movie fare, and thus makes the concept both familiar and fresh. The production standards are high, the acting is decent, and the title sequence (with Murray Gold music) is perfect.

This looks like something I may need to check out once the dissertation is over.
Definitely worthwhile, +Tiffany Knoell.
I missed the first episode so I'll probably wait until it shows up on Amazon Prime to watch it.
I can safely say that, to date, there's not so strong an arc that watching every episode is essential.
As someone who has a greater than passing familiarity with the original stories, I appreciate that they have taken plot elements, character flaws and personality traits, and added them to the show to serve a different story than the ones in the original books. I feel that I still know these characters well but I don’t know where they’re going in this particular plotline so it’s not like all the suspense has been removed from the story. (We have yet to see Aramis’ deep and abiding religious faith from the book.)
And they have found some fabulous places to shoot scenes, especially last week’s garden meeting with the Duke of Savoy.
@Mary – Agreed on all counts, though my familiarity with the original tales is far sketchier.
+Les Jenkins I don't recall what cable you are on (if any), but it's presently available on Comcast's "OnDemand".
AT&T U-Verse here.
