RIP, James Garner

I always enjoyed Garner's work — the casual ne'er-do-well who might pick your pocket but would help you against a band of thugs; who might beat you at cards down to the last penny, but would buy you a drink from what he just won from you.  Maverick, Jim Rockford, Hendley the Scrounger — he was always a pleasure to watch perform.  Thanks, Mr Garner.

Who is that tall, dark stranger there?
Maverick is his name.
Riding the trail to who knows where,
Luck is his companion, gambling is his game.

  1. I watched the first episode of The Rockford Files today. Garner's easy-going performances are always a delight.

I must get a copy of The Garner Files. (Wow. Some copies have three-digit price tags.)
