"Dragonriders of Pern" coming to movie theaters at last?

Hmmm. There's some great material there, even in just the core original trilogy (make the first two books into 3-4 movies, push the Dragonsinger / White Dragon bits into their own parallel YA movie series, and then start discussing whether to tackle the dolphins and the like).  While the buzz is that this is Warner's next franchise after Harry Potter and The Hobbit, I see it as more of a competitor (visually) with James Cameron's Avatar.

Yeah, I can see this.
