Kelly: Nebraska doesn’t recognize her marriage — or even her name
She had no trouble obtaining a Nebraska driver’s license at 16; now she’s been turned down at 51.
What’s in a name? Not much, until someone says you can’t change it.

It’s one thing for Nebraska to say that it doesn’t recognize same-sex marriages in terms of benefits and the like, but to ignore an out-of-state birth certificate as a legitimate document for changing a name on a drivers license is just plain dumb. Or Incredibly petty. Especially where she has other ID (a passport) and other state registration using her married name.

That is totally stupid, especially when you consider some of the truly idiotic names that have been approved to be legally changed.
It's a blatant violation of Full Faith & Credit – I don't think even our current SCOTUS could ignore that. But of course, that requires a long legal fight before the state is actually held to that.
+Kingsley Lintz Yeah. It will (hopefully) be faster to wait for SCOTUS to rule (knocks wood) on same-sex marriage being constitutionally protected, which will resolve these kind of issues.
