Somehow the last couple of episodes of the BBC series "The Musketeers" didn't quite make it on to our DVR. Fortunately, the Series 1 disk set is out, and we were able to wrap up the eps tonight.
I have to say that this as the new series of the last year that most excited me. It's fun, it's action-packed, it's dramatic, it's lovingly period, it draws on Dumas' characters without reenacting the standard plot of every Three Musketeers movies of the past half-century. Triffic stuff, and the last episode wrapped things up brilliantly.
Deeply, deeply sad that Peter Capaldi will not be back next series as the Cardinal Richelieu, as he did such a splendid job of it. But I trust we'll get some other diabolical plotting to make the whole thing work together.
Oddly enough, I can't find a video of the main titles, which are lovely. But here's the Murray Gold music: The Musketeers BBC – Murray Gold – Theme
